For the first time in what feels like forever we had no Thursday Night Football, and for as much as we complain for a Jets vs Broncos matchup I would have definitely tuned in had that game taken place this Thursday, at least we have a full slate of games this Sunday and a doubleheader on Monday Night that features 4 playoff contenders.
Aside from the Le’Veon Bell situation it has been a slow news week for Football as no games have been cancelled (so far) and we’re just patiently waiting for Sunday to arrive.
Last Week’s Record: 10-4
Against the Spread: 9-5
Washington (1-4) @ Giants (0-5)
It’s been 4 long weeks ever since the Washington Football Team pulled off their Week 1 upset over the Eagles, Haskins has been relegated to their 3rd Quarterback and Alex Smith took some snaps at QB, Kyle Allen is back as the starter for this matchup of 2 very poor football teams. The Giants come fresh off a narrow loss to the Cowboys and look to pick up their first win of the season.
Bet: Giants -3
Browns (4-1) @ Steelers (4-0)
One of the best matchups and most difficult matchups to call of Week 6 with 2 teams who’ve shown lots of promise. The Steelers defense doesn’t seem as great as we thought it maybe could be, but their offense has picked up the slack especially with a new dynamic receiver in Chase Claypool. The Browns meanwhile look like the team we expected them to be last year with their offense being very much improved. Still this is a division rivalry at Heinz Field which will be extremely tough on the Browns.
Bet: Steelers -3.5
Falcons (0-5) @ Vikings (1-4)
The Vikings suffered a devastating loss on Sunday Night and the Falcons just fired their longtime Head Coach, obviously neither of these 2 teams expected to start out the season the way they have with 1 combined win between the 2. Both teams do have talented players and this game could be fun, but the Vikings looked to be heading in the right direction the past couple of weeks even with their loss at Seattle.
Bet: Vikings -4
Texans (1-4) @ Titans (4-0)
The Titans came back from an early bye week due to COVID and surprised everyone by dominating Buffalo in a blowout. This matchup promises to be good due to the Texans desperately needing this win to potentially keep their season alive, and the Titans have a chance of shutting down those chances for the Texans and maintain a firm hold on the division lead.
Bet: Titans -3.5
Ravens (4-1) @ Eagles (1-3-1)
Despite a loss last week the Eagles have a glimmer of hope due to the fact that Carson Wentz finally looked like himself and he found chemistry with receiver Travis Fulgham who amassed over 100 yards and a Touchdown. The Ravens remain a potent offense although not at the extreme levels we saw last year.
Bet: Eagles +7.5
Bengals (1-3-1) @ Colts (3-2)
After Joe Burrow picked up his first career win he and the Bengals laid an egg on Sunday as the Ravens completely obliterated them all game making the rookie QB feel uncomfortable. The Colts hope to replicate that as their very good defense can cause some issues for the rookie QB.
Bet: Bengals +8
Detroit Lions (1-3) @ Jaguars (1-4)
If you look through NFL History it’s tough to find 2 more mediocre franchises than these 2 (well aside from the Browns) and so far this year has been no exception. The Jaguars look more and more like the tanking team we expected in the offseason and the Lions have shown little to no improvement from last year even with Matthew Stafford back under center.
Bet: Lions -3
Bears (4-1) @ Panthers (3-2)
Truth be told I have no idea what to make of the Bears, they barely win 3 games against bad opponents to start the season then look awful against the Colts and we all expect them to be bad from there on out only for them to beat the Buccaneers. The Panthers on the other hand have looked comfortable in Matt Rhule’s scheme and Teddy Bridgewater seems to be a reliable QB.
Bet: Panthers -1.5
Broncos (1-3) @ Patriots (2-2)
Cam Newton is back after suffering from COVID and the Patriots are ready to go after this matchup was postponed last week. Fortunately for Denver Drew Lock seems to be ready to play once again and they very badly need him with their 1-3 record. Still a young QB on the road against the Patriots remains an incredibly tough matchup.
Bet: Broncos +9
Jets (0-5) @ Dolphins (2-3)
Adam Gase returns to the place he coached for 3 seasons, but this time returns whilst everything indicates he’s on the hot seat or at least should be. The Jets are a disaster right now while Miami still in their rebuild seems to be trending in the right direction after a shocking blowout over the defending NFC Champions.
Bet: Miami -9.5
Packers (4-0) @ Buccaneers (3-2)
Tom Brady had one of his most embarrassing moments on Thursday Night Football after he forgot which down of play it was and it probably cost them the victory in Chicago, you already know it’s killing him and he’s gonna want to come back with a bang against a very good Packers team. Rodgers vs Brady is always intriguing and this matchup should be no different.
Bet: Buccaneers +1
Rams (4-1) @ 49ers (2-3)
After suffering an embarrassing defeat at home against Miami the 49ers look to bounce back in a difficult matchup against the Rams who’ve played pretty well all year. The 49ers haven’t looked like a good team all year and avoiding a 2-4 start should be crucial. I think in this game we see a sense of urgency from the 49ers and I trust Kyle Shannahan will have a great game plan.
Bet: 49ers +3
Chiefs (4-1) @ Bills (4-1)
The Chiefs & Bills both suffered tough losses last week, one to a division rival and the other just got blown out by the Titans. This Monday Night game features 2 QB’s with ridiculous arm strength and I’m hoping it’s a fun shootout, the Chiefs are probably the more talented and better coached team though.
Bet: Chiefs -4.5
Arizona (3-2) @ Cowboys (2-3)
Even though Dak Prescott is unfortunately hurt this game still has the potential of being a high scoring affair. Both teams are fresh of victories over bad New York Teams which is the best you can hope for to get your team back on track. Trevon Diggs is in for a very tough matchup against Deandre Hopkins who has proven to have chemistry with Kyler Murray, the Cowboys need to slow Hopkins down if they want a shot at winning this game.
Bet: Arizona -1.5
