Help us get the record right.

If an article contains a factual error, missing context or another serious concern, tell us what needs review and why.

1. Send a clear request

Email [email protected] with “Correction request” or “Editorial complaint” in the subject line.

  • The article URL and title.
  • The exact passage, image or claim you dispute.
  • A concise explanation of the problem and the change you propose.
  • Relevant primary sources or other evidence.
  • A reply address and, if relevant, your connection to the matter.

You do not need legal terminology to make a request. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

2. How we assess concerns

We review the published material against the supplied evidence and other relevant sources. We may ask for clarification, contact the author or seek a response from affected parties. Disagreement with a clearly identified opinion does not automatically establish a factual error, but an opinion can still rely on incorrect facts.

We prioritise issues involving significant harm, privacy, safety or a potentially serious factual error. We do not promise a fixed editorial turnaround; statutory requests retain their applicable legal deadlines.

3. Corrections, updates and retractions

  • Minor edits: spelling, punctuation or formatting can be corrected without a formal notice when meaning is unchanged.
  • Material corrections: add a visible note identifying the significant error and correction, with a date.
  • Updates: explain major new information without disguising the original publication date.
  • Editor’s notes: flag a substantial unresolved issue while it is assessed.
  • Retractions or removal: consider when the core work is unreliable or continued publication would create a serious legal or privacy problem; retain an explanatory record where lawful and appropriate.

4. Requests to reply or reconsider

If you are the subject of an article and believe it needs a response or clarification, identify the relevant claims and provide your proposed response and supporting information. We consider relevance, accuracy, proportionality and applicable rights when deciding how to publish it.

If you believe our response missed important evidence, reply in the same email thread and explain what should be reconsidered. This process does not restrict any legal remedy or regulator complaint.

5. Privacy and copyright matters

For personal-data rights, use the Privacy Policy. For rights in text, images or other material, use Copyright & Permissions. These requests can use the same contact address.
