Deck: Real Madrid named a 20-man squad for Wednesday’s home league match against Mallorca, with Vinicius Jr. back in the group after injury and Camavinga still absent as he closed in on a return.
Real Madrid announced a 20-man squad on Tuesday for Wednesday’s La Liga match against Mallorca at the Bernabéu, with Vinicius Jr. returning to the group for the first time since his November injury. Carvajal and Arda Güler were also included for Matchday 19.
Vinicius had been sidelined since November 17, when Real Madrid said he had suffered a tear in his left femoral bicep affecting the tendon in his hamstring. Ahead of the Mallorca match, Ancelotti said the forward had trained well and that the staff would decide, together with the medical team, how best to use him.
Camavinga was not part of the squad. The midfielder had resumed part of team training by the end of December after a right-knee lateral collateral ligament tear, and Ancelotti indicated he was close to returning. Nacho was unavailable through suspension, while Mendy had been working individually in the build-up.
Among the senior players available to Ancelotti were goalkeepers Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga, midfielders Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, Luka Modrić and Federico Valverde, plus attackers Rodrygo, Joselu and Brahim Díaz. The club’s official squad announcement listed 20 players in total.
